Child painting on canvas at Sipping N' Painting Hampden

Children’s Parties at Sipping N Painting Hampden

Please read carefully because we want your party to be awesome!

We love to host children's birthday parties! You can reserve the entire studio for your private event.

Scheduling:

Children's private birthday parties are offered weekend mornings or on weekdays when children are not in school, upon availability. The class time is 2 hours -- about 90 minutes for the class and one or two breaks, as needed. We ask families to arrive 30 minutes early to choose their seats, get their aprons on, set up the gift or cupcake table, and greet their guests. The class itself is 90 minutes long. The last half hour is for parent pick-up and drop-off. (Example: If your party is from 10 am -12noon, we ask the birthday family to arrive at 9:30, the other guests to arrive no later than 10, and parent pick-up between 11:45 and 12. Please let our staff know if everyone will be arriving early together).

The class is developmentally appropriate. We do brief, periodic breaks to sing "Happy Birthday" and stretches or dancing to keep things moving.

All Guests Must be 6 years of Age or Older. We must ask people with younger children to leave, so please make sure your invitees know this and understand.

Cost:

We require a nonrefundable prepaid minimum of $300 (up to 10 guests) which will be applied to your total.  Additional guests can be added until the day of the event at $30 each (limit 30 people total max). On the day of the event you will pay your balance, which includes additional guests and bar tab. Tipping the teacher and bartender at 15-20% are customary.  Please call or email us the day before with your final count.

If you would like a time other than a Saturday or Sunday morning or during a weekday 9-4 pm, please let us know. The cost will be higher, depending on the time slot.

Like a Movie Theater or Sporting Event, We charge per person, not per painter (whether each guest ultimately chooses to paint or not.) We encourage all guests to paint! Kids have more fun when the adults around them are painting!  We appreciate your understanding that while the birthday party is a party, it is also a class. The teacher’s stage (where they instruct the kids) is next to the front door, so letting your guests know to arrive on time helps allow for a more successful event!

Supervision / Chaperones:
We request at least 1 paying adult per 5 children. We find the kids have more fun when the adults are painting too, so we encourage every guest to paint, regardless of age! Our space is one large room. It is important the space is quiet enough for the teacher to teach, so we do ask adults who are not painting to keep their voices down or please sit on the patio.

Painting:
Your child can choose their painting from our gallery tab or our calendar: we will simplify it for children if necessary. A new painting can be created for you if you don't see what you like in our extensive gallery (commissions are $100 per painting).

Food:
We do not allow outside beverages to be brought in. You may bring in water bottles or juice boxes only for the party. We sell beer, wine, soda, Izzies, water bottles, mimosas, sangria, chips and light snacks at our bar.  We have a small (4 top) table for food. We ask that you bring cupcakes rather than a cake because they are neater. If you will be bringing additional food to the party, please let us know in advance. We do not have a kitchen. It is our experience keeping things light and easy to grab works best – light snacks plus your juice and cupcakes, for example.

Decorations:
The studio is already decorated for parties with strings of lights on the ceiling, and art on the walls.  Balloons should be bundled together if you bring them, but they are not necessary. Please no streamers or confetti!  Decorations must be removed immediately after the party since we usually have another class scheduled to follow.

Paper Products:
We provide plastic tablecloths. Please bring all other paper products needed for your cupcakes and/or light snacks.

What to Wear:
We use permanent acrylic paints. In your invitations, please ask that the children be dressed in clothes that will not be ruined when they get paint on them. We provide aprons. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR PAINT DAMAGE TO CLOTHES, SHOES, GIFTS, ETC. New gifts and paint do not mix well; please, no opening of gifts in the studio.

Goody Bags
Guests can take a "20% off future classes card" on their way out, or you can stick them in goody bags.

Arrive Early:
Please arrive 30 minutes before the class start time to be ready to greet your guests.

Celebration During a Public Class:

If you would prefer to have your group join an already-existing PUBLIC CLASS and sit together, you can use the promo code "return" to receive a 20% discount on each seat. This special price applies to regular 2-hour acrylic classes only, and does not apply to Bob Ross oils classes, Paint Your Pet, pallet board workshops, Kid's Camp, Private Events, or Public Fundraisers.  Having a celebration during the class does not allow for choosing your own painting or bringing refreshments solely for your group, however. Note: our classes do sell out sometimes. We recommend purchasing all of your seats together as early as you can to ensure your entire party gets a seat.  Please arrive 20 minutes before the class starts to choose your seats together.

We look forward to hearing back with the date and time you have chosen! We look forward to hosting your party at the studio!

Cheers!

Your hosts, Nancy and Saul
